Thursday 13th March - walk *** – Levington Creek – sunshine and sleety showers.

We were keen to get out today, so the rolls came out of the freezer in readiness for the picnic, the day started well with some nice sunshine but the dark clouds started to slowly roll in on the light NW breeze with showers of rain and hail coming. So after doing my exercises and with picnic packed to set off in the van at 12.40 just as a shower moved in, so after filling up with fuel we decided to have lunch by the River Orwell at Levington Marina being surrounded by some very menacing clouds, the highlight of the journey when we had just crossed the Levington level crossing was a large herd of deer in a field of winter wheat as the farmer moved by in his tractor rolling the crop! It was pleasant enough having our picnic, there was even a yacht leaving the marina, when the sun came out it was really pleasant with some lovely colours, then we had a heavy fall of hail which turned everything whte for a short while, it did not put off the waders feeding right in front of us! Being surrounded by dark clouds with falling rain it did not look promising for a walk but we decided to take a chance by driving the short distance to Levington Church and set off quickly with fingers crossed we avoid the rain! We walk across the wooden walkway down to the Orwell with loads of feeding ducks and waders getting ready to feed as the tide drops! Back along the creek and up the hill back to the church getting back to the van just as the rain starts!
I was chuffed to get one of my pics of the hail at Levington on this evening Look East weather forecast:) Hope to get up early tomorrow to see the lunar eclipse, fingers crossed its not cloudy!
